african safaris - 03

During the summer of 05 I went on a trip to Africa but more specifically Kenya and Tanzania. I really enjoyed the trip because it was such a new experience for me. I had never been in barren lands and never experienced wild animals of this sortm

We first visited Nirobi, Kenya which is an old British out post from the 1700's which is now a sprawling city. We visited a museam dedicated to the author of the book "out of africa". It is a beautiful little house that she lived in overlooking a coffee plantation and lush green rolling hills. Then we went to an orphanage for giraffes where we hand fed giraffes bannanas. The kids really enjoyed this part of the trip because they had never been so close to giraffes.

Then we drove north for 3 hours to a town called Nanyuki which is on the equator, which we stopped for pictures and then continued on a two hour drive to the Samburu National Park which we took our first two hour safari. We saw all kinds of animals including a cheetah chasing a gazelle. That is something you onlu see in movies and we witnessed it first hand. In evenings we are sitting on the edge of the Serena Lodge watching the leopard come to a set out feed across the river which the lodge employees did for the guests. While waiting for the leopard to come we witnessed a crocodile feast on a wild cat that had come to feast on the chicken bits an employee left for the crocm

Our next stop was Mount Kenya Safari Club which we swam at because we had a nice afternoon off. And then we flew the Massai Mara National Park where we did more safaris and we stayed at the govenors tented camp. These tents we just made out of tent fabric on the outside but on the inside was a luxurious room with marble bathrooms and things like that.

We did some more safaris and saw a lion feast on a wildabeast before we had to say goodbye to one of the most fantastics trips I had the pleasure of going on. This is another place I would recommend to others and I had nothing but fun on it.
